Wine is the best choice of drink to have in order to complement a certain meal or dish. Aside from the fact that, when consumed in moderation, it is healthy, the perfect wine choice can enhance the flavor of certain dishes.
Most people however, find it difficult to choose the right wine. This probably stems from the fact that there are so many different kinds of wine from different areas of the world that choosing the right wine for can be such a daunting task. This will become an easier task if one is aware of the different types of wines and what types of dishes they are best paired with.
The basic types of wine are either Red Wine or White Wine. The color of the wine is due to the type of grapes used in the different flavors added to the wine during the fermentation process as well as the process itself.
Red Wine
Red wine is best consumed at room temperature and in a glass which gives it enough room to “breathe”. It is the best choice when having salty or spicy dishes, as well as meat, and other rich or creamy dishes as it will enhance the flavor of the food.
There are different types of red wine and they each have their own distinct flavor and quality. To name a few:

White Wine
White wine is not really white in color. It is more yellow or golden and is best consumed chilled which makes it the wine of choice during warmer seasons. It is usually consumed in during lighter meals like desserts, lunch or as an aperitif as they are not heavy.
White wine is generally fruitier in flavor and is best paired with lighter dishes like seafood or pasta and cheese and poultry. Like the red wine, there are also different varieties of white wine and each variety has its own distinct flavor and aroma.
