Whether you need glasses for vision correction or merely as a fashion accessory, it is important to choose a pair that will flatter your looks. Today, glasses came in all sorts of styles and colors. It may be quite difficult to choose the right glasses. Not every style or color will suit your face.
Here are some tips in choosing glasses.
1. Get an eye exam. The eye doctor will be able to determine your prescription, whether you are near sighted, far sighted or astigmatic.
2. Select a frame that flatters the shape of your face. Different face types require different frames. Generally, you should not wear frames shaped like your face.
- Oval face- Most frames will work on the oval face; rectangular, square or geometric frames.
- Round face- Rectangular and geometric frames are best. Avoid round frames.
- Square face- Oval and round frames are most flattering. Do not wear square or geometric shaped frames.
3. Choose frame color. When selecting the right glasses, the frame color should be considered as well. This should go well with your skin tone and hair color, that is whether warm or cool. Warm tones go well with softer colors such as copper, peach, orange and gold. Cool tones will get away with darker colors such as black, blue, magenta.
4. Choose your frame material. Frames are made of metal (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel) or plastic. Your choice will depend on whether you need your frame to durable, light, hypoallergenic or even the price you are willing to pay.
5. Choose the right lenses. The lenses are determined by your prescription and should fit the frames you chose. Your eyes should be in the middle of the lens when you wear your eye glasses. The best lens choice would be a high index plastic lens which is thinner and lighter than regular plastic lenses. The lens should also be coated with anti-reflective material to provide better night vision.
There are so many different choices to make when choosing glasses. It may be worthwhile to seek the help of a good optician.
